Chancellor Steven F. Murray
Dr. Steven Murray has served as chancellor of Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas since 2003. Since joining the college in 1980, he has served as an English instructor, department head, division dean, vice chancellor for instruction, executive vice chancellor and chancellor. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in English and a doctorate in higher education administration.
Murray was recently appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. A consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission, Murray is chair of the executive committee of the Arkansas Association of Two-Year College Presidents and Chancellors, serves on the Arkansas Delta Training and Education Consortium external advisory committee and is a member of the Arkansas Commission for the Coordination of Education.
In addition, he served as a member of the steering committee of the University of Arkansas Distance Learning Initiative and provided leadership in the development of the University of Arkansas Online Associate of Arts degree program, a web-based program delivered by a consortium formed by PCCUA, the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville and the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.
